11/28/2010

The other day, J read in the paper about a bake sale at the Greek Orthodox church in Shreveport. We picked up a sample box and a loaf of bread. The box included thing like wedding cookies and baklava. It was very sweet so I ended up freezing the stuff and will just take out a piece or so at a time. The bread was also a sweet bread, but I used that for french toast recipe with pear, apple and maple syrup from the Stonewall Kitchen book. I made no substitutions with this one (except for the bread, the book calls for challah).

It was okay, but I'm not a big french toast eater, however, J must have liked it, because he some of the leftovers as a late night snack and finished off the rest this morning.

Also, because we were getting a little sick of Thanksgiving leftovers, I made a chili recipe from the America's Test Kitchen cookbook. The only substitutions I made were to use ground turkey instead of ground beef and tomato sauce instead of tomato puree. This was probably the best chili I have ever made, so this recipe was a keeper.

The picture didn't turn out very well.

We put up the Christmas tree yesterday. Again, this picture turned out pretty bad (you can't see that the lights are on), but in person, the tree looks pretty good, even though the chandelier hangs down in front of it.

K2 drove K1 back to Texas this morning. About 5 minutes after they left, I looked in the shoe closet and saw his boots. We had to call them to come back and get them. I guess he only has one pair and he would have needed them to go to work tomorrow. J's plane left at about 11 this morning as well.
