The view from our camping spot (it seems I forgot to take a picture of us in our actual spot):
This would be a good place to camp with kids in the summer. The water was clean and you’ll see a small beachfront in the picture directly above.
It took us about 4.5 hours to get there. We drove through torrential rains and drive at a snails pace around several accidents.
For dinner, we got take out at Tommy Tamale Market & Cafe. I’ve decided I’m not much of a tamale person.
We both got a tamale bowl.
I had booked us a food tour for Saturday. It was in Dallas and it took us in the Deep Ellum neighborhood.
Our first stop was Bucky Moonshines where we had chicken gumbo and a fried green tomato. Both J and I agreed this was nothing great.
At our next stop, we had nachos and fundido. We thought the way the nachos were served was creative and the fundido was really good.
Our next stop was a restaurant called The Stir. This was the only place on the tour we would go back to.
The middle bite was chicken with a maple sauce and the waffle fries had some sort of blue cheese sauce on them.
At our final stop we had Quattro dulce de leche cake. I don’t like soggy cake. J did eat his though.
On Sunday we took a ride on the Grapevine vintage railroad to the Ft Worth stockyards.
The ride had some entertainment.
Stockyard pictures.
Our train coming to pick us up.
And the one thing I forgot to do was take pictures of historic downtown Grapevine. Just think a quaint little town with nothing but General Stores, restaurants and wineries.
We’re headed to Tyler Texas in November for Veterans Day. I made our campground reservations six months in advance because apparently the place were going is a highly sought after campground. We will see how true that is.
