Thanksgiving 2019 Part 2

On Friday, we took a day tour to the West Rim at the Grand Canyon.

We stopped at a scenic overlook of Lake Mead.

We then had a stopover at the Hoover Dam.   The pictures don’t show how big it really is.

We made it to the Grand Canyon.  It was freezing cold, had snowed (which apparently only happens here about 5 times a year) and was sleeting while we were outside.

They drop you off at a small welcome center type thing and you ride a shuttle bus.  The bus takes you to 3 separate areas.  Our tickets included lunch.

What I forgot to take a picture of was the horseshoe shaped glass floor skywalk..  You aren’t allowed to take cameras on it but it was nice.

Lunch was ok. When we got to the location, there was only one other table occupied.  We had three hours to kill se we just took our time.  About an hour later the place filled up so we got up to leave.  As we were walking out the waitress yelled at me “no saving seats”   I told her I wasn’t saving any seats that I was just trying to get out.  We had baked chicken.

It got dark on the ride home.  Here is the Hoover Dam at night.

We had dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s Lupo.

They gave us a sample of butternut squash soup with a maple cream.  It was delicious and I’m going to try and copy it.

Bread plate.

J had a seafood dish.  He said it was good

I had a carbonara pasta dish.  It was okay, but I’ve had better.

We were both worn out from the trip and getting back late, so no show and we just headed back to the room after dinner.

Saturday we were up and used our food credit at Della’s Kitchen.  We both had chicken and waffles.

Our next stop was The Shark Reef. I had discount tickets.  I would never recommend paying full price.

More pictures of the strip.

We ended up seeing 2 shows on Saturday.  Potted Potter which is a Harry Potter spoof. It was good and funny.  I didn’t have high hopes when we walked in the theater which was more like a lounge but I would recommend it.  We also saw Michael Jackson One another Cirque Du Soleil production.  It was much better than The Beatles.  We ate dinner at The Bacchanal which is supposed to be the premier buffet.  We didn’t think it was wirth the hype and I took no pictures.

We were up early on Sunday, we had breakfast (it was the hotel Buffett) and then went to catch our shuttle.  The company called us and told us where the meeting place was but they were wrong.  Thankfully we figured it out and made it to the correct location on time.

We have no trips planned in the next few months.  I need to start researching camp grounds.
