July 2019

We left Louisiana at 10 am on June 29th and headed to Fairbanks, Alaska.  After a very long day, we finally arrived around midnight.  We were up early on the 30th and headed to the North Pole to see Santa.  Since all of my pictures of him include kids, which I won't post, here is a picture of his house:

Our next stop was Pioneer Park.  An old-timey Alaska living type village (only a few pictures, since once again, most contain kids):

On July 1, we took a ride on the Riverboat Discovery:

The guy in the next few pictures is Susan Butcher's husband.  She was a lady that participated in the Iditarod and won several times.  It was very clean and the dogs were ready to pull:

After the riverboat ride, we went panning for gold.  We each found about $20-$30 dollars worth, but the place didn't buy it from you, but you could have it made into jewelry.  We all passed on that, and again, no pictures because of kids.  However, you could see some of the Alaska pipeline at the start of the gold mine tour:

I'll make another post to cover the rest of the trip.
