Memorial Day 2019

I know, I'm a few months late with this post, but we went camping over Memorial Day weekend in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  We stayed at Sam Houston Jones State Park.

We stopped at the Charlestown Farmer's Market.  It did not have a lot of vendors or shoppers.  We did not buy anything.

A few pictures of the downtown area:

We stopped for lunch at The Bekery:

We took a Swamp & River Tour.  I won't name the company, but we weren't very impressed with them.  They said to arrive at 11:45 am for a noon departure.  We, along with 2 other groups were there on time.  There was another group that showed up at 12:06 pm (I looked) but only had half of their people.  We ended up waiting until almost 12:30 before leaving.  When the late group arrived they had brought their dogs so the tour group let them stay inside their building.

Anyway, here are a few pictures (yes, those are alligators.  The boat driver would put a marshmallow on a stick and they would jump to eat them):

We also went to a Terry Fator show.  I had never heard of him before this, but he was entertaining.  We had good front row seats.

We then did a walking tour of the city to see some historical sites:

We headed home the next morning.

Our next trip was over the 4th of July week and we went to Fairbanks, Alaska.
